Eric
Santana.

Backend engineer working in Rust, cloud infrastructure, and the occasional Web3 corner.

The work, plainly.

I build software end to end -the Terraform that provisions a production AWS account, the Rust services running on top of it, and the React talking to them. Most of my work happens on small teams where the same person writes the infra and the feature, and that’s where I like to be.

Lately, that’s looked like leading a TypeScript → Rust migration that halved compute footprint, standing up an MLOps platform from scratch, and dragging an AWS bill down ~30% -mostly at Kizzy Labs, with detours into bare-metal Kubernetes and ad-tech at real-time scale.

Where I’ve been building.

Kizzy Labs

May 2025 → Now

Founding Engineer production Rust + AWS, end-to-end

  • Led TypeScript → Rust migration of the entire backend (Poem framework), serving the same workload on 50% fewer EC2/Beanstalk instances.
  • Architected multi-environment AWS infrastructure in Terraform -ECS, RDS, ElastiCache, ALB, KMS, Secrets Manager -with environment isolation and audit-gated promotions.
  • Designed and led an end-to-end iGaming supplier integration (schema → API → settlement) and shipped KYC + geofencing for regulated jurisdictions.
  • Migrated authentication to Privy for unified Web3 SSO, and integrated Relay for cross-chain deposits -users fund accounts from any chain.
  • Stood up an MLOps platform from scratch: SageMaker domain with custom lifecycle configs, AWS Glue ETL, training/promotion pipelines, and a production inference API.
  • Drove ~30% AWS cost reduction across the account; introduced k6 load testing and CloudWatch-based observability to catch issues before release.

May 2024 → Feb 2025

DevOps Engineer Kubernetes on bare metal

  • Architected a 6-node bare-metal Kubernetes setup (3 prod, 3 staging) using Helm and ArgoCD, with GitHub Actions pipelines for microservice CI/CD.
  • Built the observability stack -Grafana, Loki, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Thanos -covering 10 gRPC microservices with long-term metric retention.
  • Shipped a data-analytics service on Metabase backed by PostgreSQL read replicas, isolating reporting load from production traffic.

Software Engineer back-office for Brazilian fiscal docs

  • Built the API + frontend for the back-office platform managing Brazilian notas fiscais, plus B2B partnership analytics dashboards.
  • Worked on a NestJS + tRPC microservices stack with a microfrontend / BFF pattern in React.

Mar 2023 → Dec 2023

Backend Engineer integrations on GCP

  • Developed B2B integrations in TypeScript, Node.js, and .NET on Google Cloud (App Engine, Firebase, Pub/Sub), processing real-time data across multiple regions.
  • Maintained legacy .NET services alongside new cloud-native work for mission-critical operations.

Infleux

Sep 2021 → Mar 2023

Full-stack Developer ad-tech at real-time scale

  • Built a push-notification system on AWS SNS + MongoDB for a React Native client; shipped OTA updates via CodePush.
  • Maintained a real-time conversions/clicks stream on Node.js + AWS Athena/RDS, plus a webscraper cronjob over AWS SQS.
  • Cut cloud spend ~8% by benchmarking EC2 instance types, tuning load balancers, and trimming CI/CD pipeline duration.
